ĬPS and the Illinois State Board of Education requires that absences by students are indicated as EXCUSED OR UNEXCUSED. Note: Missing 4 classes in one day counts as a 1⁄2 day of attendance missing 5 or more classes is counted as a FULL day. Parents of truant students may be fined up to $500 (IL School Code). Repeated absences, truancy, and/or tardiness to school or classes will lead to consequences that could include loss of privileges such as field trips, dances, internships, graduation tickets, etc. Please reach out to Taft's Attendance Coordinator if you need support for your child. More than 9 UNEXCUSED absences in total can qualify your student to be in the RED ZONE for Attendance success. Students are required to attend school, all programmed classes, and to be prompt. Research tells us that good school attendance is the foundation for a student’s success. » Turf Field and Event Bag/Chair Policy.
